Pineapple is suitable for both sweet and savory recipes, but eating a fresh one is ideal. Cut it in cubes for a fruit salad.
First, remove the leaves and the ends of the fruit. Don't remove the peduncles by cutting away a lot of skin: this would eliminate the sweetest part of the pineapple, which is precisely there, very close to its skin. To avoid waste, just slice the skin off as thinly as possible and remove the peduncles by cutting them with a knife.
