Pitaya is a tropical fruit, mostly cultivated in south-east Asia. Why is it also called dragon fruit? Legend says that pitayas were created from the last fiery breath of the defeated dragons during battles.
Cleaning a pitaya is very easy: just remove the ends and make a vertical cut along the fruit. At this point the peel will come off quickly and its pulp will be ready to use for salads, smoothies or drinks. Alternatively, simply cut it in half and enjoy it directly with a spoon!
