Every year, the Italian American Chamber of Commerce West (IACCW) puts on a series of events called True Italian Taste. The pandemic put things on a hiatus, but the group is back with an unbelievably tasty dinner series in Los Angeles.
For some background, True Italian Taste is in its fifth year and its goal is to promote restaurants and chefs as they bring Old World traditions to American sensibilities.
This year’s trio of events will take place at esteemed LA restaurants Angelini Osteria, N10, and Rossoblu, where each establishment will tackle a distinctive time period in Italian food history.
IACCW’s Executive Director Genny Nevoso says, “This year, we take a deep dive into the Middle Ages, at the court of the Malatesta Family of Rimini, where we obtain clues about how regional specialties evolved into today’s Italian culinary landscape. From the ‘now’ perspective, we champion the best of Italy’s exported products, as well as shift to a future-forward look into the new Italian culinary experience that is imminent. Perhaps it is one that will be conscious of time, sustainability, and wellness, and capable of shaping timeless dishes into forever ones.”
The events kick off on Monday, August 23 at Angelini Osteria where Chef Gino Angelini will take on Medieval Italy. The menu dives into the Malatesta family and will mix a range of 15th Century cooking from Emilia-Romagna with today’s techniques and ingredients.

The second event takes place on Tuesday, August 24 at famous football star Alessandro Del Piero’s N10. There, Chef Fabio Ugoletti will showcase DOP / PDO products (Denominazione di Origine Protetta, or in English that’s PDO, Protected Designation of Origin) through a multi-course menu that explores contemporary Italy.

The conclusion of the series will head over to Rossoblu on Thursday, August 26, where Chef Steve Samson will delve into the sustainable future of Italian cuisine. The chef will collaborate with Roman native and culinary master Chef Barbara Pollastrini (an ambassador for True Italian Taste) as they whip up a family-style menu that plays on authentic techniques with sustainable products.
All three events are $75 per person, which includes food and wine pairing, taxes, and tip. Tickets for the events are available on Eventbrite. Dinners begin at 7 pm.
